Me

I'm Ashly Without The "E".

I was named after A GIRLFRIEND OF Happy Days’ leather-jacket-clad Fonzie. Yup, my namesake is a minor ’80s television character. My parents just accidentally left out The letter 'E'.

Those quirky details are the kinds I like to share, and discover about others. The kinds of details that make a good story, and provide a peek into real lives. Stories are at the core of who I am, and the work I do: understanding that people are people. I work with people to collaborate on work that enhances lives, for people working toward business goals, and on behalf of people whose lives could be impacted by that work.

I am a textbook of advertising principles, but fearless in pushing traditional marketing thinking into the reality of today -  product is most effective brand experience.

Interaction is a consumer craving after being talked at by billboards and TV spots for decades. That's why I love apps. People can tell their stories, their way, whenever; and so can brands. Apps are disruptive without making people feel disrupted. As a product strategist and producer, I've concepted and managed mobile apps, websites and interactive installations that have allowed brands from Fortune 500 to startup status engage with their audiences.

I am currently consulting with Twitter, focusing on how to bring brand and product stories together in digital spaces. Previously, I was Product Strategy Director at Baltimore-based agency, Chalk + Chisel, leading collaboration on mobile and web apps across a team of strategists, designers and engineers. I have also held traditional advertising roles developing in-store initiatives for COVERGIRL product launches. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing and Advertising from Towson University. I received my Master's in Digital Advertising and Brand Management from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University.

As a new California resident, I spend life outside of work exploring the area, reading memoirs, cooking, and Instagramming most of it
